TallWall

Project Discription:

TallWall is a 3D short film produced using Maya for animation, Unreal for rendering, and finally composited in After Effects. The film narrates the changes in people's lives during an unprecedented smallpox epidemic in a non-linear narrative style, triggering reflections on topics such as home isolation, pandemic, and women. The film is inspired by the experience of COVID-19, serving as a poignant reminder of that painful period.

Project Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for modeling and topology of most characters.

  • Responsible for creating animation for certain shots in a realistic style, and baking all animations as Alembic into Unreal.

  • Recruiting team members, managing files, planning schedules, and delegating tasks to ensure smooth project progress.

Producer

During my tenure at Tall Wall as a producer, I bore the mantle of overseeing file management, orchestrating schedules, delegating tasks, and conducting quality assessments. Commencing our endeavor in September 2023 with a modest team of six, we gradually burgeoned into a formidable cohort of approximately 60 adept professionals.

We relied on Google Sheets to plan tasks for each team member and to keep track of all necessary assets.

To safeguard all project assets, we stored everything on Google Drive, with the added precaution of maintaining a backup copy on my personal hard drive.

When I created these folders and naming convetion, I referred to some website posts to think about how to build the folder structure, in order to make it clear and easy to find and also help the pipeline going smoother.

Additionally, we utilized Miro Board to submit work, monitor weekly progress, and make any necessary adjustments.

Beside being a producer in TallWall project, I also modeled most of the character and respondible for topology and unwrap UV. we have in total 19 characters, but we re-used some model and changed their cloth in order to reducer the amount of work. First I model the chatacter’s body im Zbrush, then create the cloth in Marvelous Design, and finally retoplogize them into low poly model in Maya.
